Watercolor Fish Painting
Students began this unit by practicing 5 different techniques used in watercolor painting
1. Permanent Marker: permanent marker stays the same, even after going over it with watercolor paint.
2. Salt: Regular table salt causes a burst-like reaction when sprinkled on wet paint. When the painting is dry, the salt is removed, leaving a star-like design.
3. Wax Resist: The wax of the construction paper crayon makes a barrier between the paint and paper, causing the paint to repel wherever crayon is drawn.
4. Spider Painting: A bubble of paint is chased along the paper by blowing air through a straw.
5. Splatter Painting: Instead of a paint brush, a toothbrush is dipped into the paint and the bristles are "flicked" to make dynamic splatter designs
Students used at least 4 Techniques in their own watercolor painting of an underwater creature
